Third Party Inspection
As part of our consultancy service, and given our experience and knowledge of cables and terminations, J+S can conduct third-party inspection on behalf of clients, on other contractors’ work. The scope of work undertaken runs from plans and procedures through to inspection of cables, connectors, and assemblies.
Installation and Commissioning
Our technicians and engineers are fully experienced in this field. We have qualified personnel at technician and engineer levels who work onsite and offshore to install and commission equipment. Our technicians are experienced in both offshore and site work, and are familiar with the pressures and problems of working autonomously offsite and in remote locations.
Offshore Testing
Electrical umbilicals connect sensors to subsea electrical and electronic hardware, and on to topside equipments. In recent years fibre optic cables have been introduced to facilitate the transmission of large volumes of data over ever longer cable lengths.
The condition of these umbilicals is crucial to the safe operation of the subsea installation. The ability to monitor their condition and quickly diagnose and repair faults can help operators plan their interventions and save lost production and revenue due to unforeseen failures and shutdowns.
J+S have developed considerable experience and capability in electrical and fibre optic cable testing both onshore and offshore. We have invested in personnel training and equipment in support of this service.
All of J+S technicians and offshore engineers are trained in both the theory and operation of TDR test equipment. We also have sufficient experience to know that careful prior planning and analysis of the infrastructure under test is vital.
Hydraulic Flushing and Testing
We provide full hydraulic flushing and testing services in-house and at your site. Services include: initial inspection and report, production of all process and test documentation, any required remediation, and flush and test.
Strategic Spares Management
As part of our strategic approach to customer support we offer this vitally important service. We store and manage your critical spares including connectors, sensors, and cables. There is no advantage in sending one of our technicians offshore to identify a problem if the problem cannot be fixed for several months while you wait for the replacement part. Using your spares holding, we can build, test, and ship subsea umbilicals and sensors in one working day, saving our customer’s vast sums in lost production and vessel time. We can have replacement parts on a helicopter while the DSV is still in the field.
