J+S raise money for North Devon Hospice

Barnstaple based J+S Ltd have this year embarked on a new programme with North Devon Hospice to support them as their Charity of the Year.  The new programme offers J+S employees the chance to participate and gain sponsorship in local charitable events with backing and donation matching from J+S.

To start off the fundraising, J+S employees took part in the Nightwalk, an 11-mile moonlit walk from Bideford to Barnstaple on the 19th May.  A team of four ladies represented J+S by giving up their Saturday night to walk 11 miles, and managed to do so in less than 4 hours.  The ladies raised an amazing £340 for North Devon Hospice.

Next up, J+S took part in the North Devon Coast to Coast Challenge charity cycle on the 3rd June. Spirits were high on the day despite the awful weather and the J+S team were some of the 336 riders that cycled from Looe, Cornwall up to Barnstaple, Devon, totalling over 72 miles. The cyclists raised an incredible £760 for North Devon Hospice.

In total the two events have raised £1,100 to which J+S have added a further £1,100 making £2,200 for the Hospice.

Managing Director David Jeffries commented:

“I am delighted that our fundraising activities have got off to such a strong start and we are well on our way to hitting our target of £5,000 for the North Devon Hospice this year.”

The North Devon Marathon on the 24th June, followed by the Skydive record attempt on 5th July are the next events in which J+S staff will participate.

North Devon Hospice is a local charity which supports both individuals and families whose lives are impacted with life-limiting illnesses. They provide care and support across North Devon, helping over 100 people each day, completely free of charge.
