J+S' acoustic engineering expertise lies in the design, development, manufacture and support of the ‘wet-end’ components of sonar systems.

Towed Arrays

We have manufactured and supported conventional ship and submarine Towed Arrays for 40 years. Today we are developing high performance, lightweight, small diameter arrays for deployment from OPV’s, UUV’s and Corvettes operating in littoral waters. Such arrays utilise lightweight handling systems and less deck space than conventional towed arrays and represent a finacially and operationally viable option for low-cost acoustic surveillance.

Transducers and Hydrophones

We offer a comprehensive transducer design and manufacture capability, from single elements to entire arrays, bespoke design and technology insertion.

Low Profile Array

The Low Profile Array (LPA) is a small diameter passive acoustic line array suitable for towed or static applications.  J+S have made use of their knowledge and experience of larger diameter arrays to develop this highly adaptable product that is uniquely suitable to today’s underwater environment.

Miniature Acoustic Components

In addition to our conventional hull-mounted and towed array sensors we have developed a range of very small diameter acoustic and non-acoustic sensors for use in thin line array applications.
