The J+S Unionlearn Training Facility
Supporting shared training and development in Barnstaple. Designed to enable the delivery of high level technical and specialist training, our state of the art IT and Video Conferencing Training Centre is a facility used by our own staff and local businesses.
By sharing this resource we increase participation in high-tech training in the local area and at the same time, increase efficiency in the supply chain.
Funding for the facility came in part from the Amicus sector of the Unite Trades union. The South West Unionlearn Learning Works for All fund matched this, with contributions from North Devon College, Semtec and the South West MEP.
Beacon South West
Supported by the South West of England Regional Development Agency, Beacon status is an award given to those companies who can demonstrate outstanding achievement across a range of criteria, including significant improvements in productivity and performance, profitability, work culture and innovation.
Through Beacon South West, Beacon Companies are brought together to promote success, provide a source of practical knowledge and play an important role in cultivating enterprise excellence in the region.

This is the only quality standard focussing on people, and provides a framework for continous improvement. We acknowledge that to achieve business aims and objectives, people need the right knowledge, skills and motivation to work efficiently, The Investors in People Standard supports this growth and development.
COG Membership
J+S's capability to provide innovative and cost effective obsolescence solutions is strengthened though its membership of the Component Obsolescence Group (COG). J+S utilises the range of services and the networks of knowledge, available through the COG, as a valuable resource in providing appropriate obsolescence solutions, which can range from determining alternative components through to complete Technology Insertion into complete systems and sub-systems.
BWEA
BWEA is the leading trade and professional body for the UK Wind and Marine Renewables industry with a primary purpose to promote the use of Wind, Wave & Tidal energy. As well as a lobbying group to promote the Renewable industry the BWEA with it's members, researches and finds solutions to industry issues and generally acts as a forum for success in the Renewable energy environment.
EEF
J+S is an active member of the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF). The EEF represents engineering and manufacturing employers, providing support on a wide range of issues including employment law, employee relations, health and safety, training etc. David Jeffries is currently serving as a member of the EEF South West Regional Council.
Subsea UK
Subsea UK is an industry body focussed on the entire British subsea industry and aims to increase business opportunities at home and abroad for the sector. They act for the whole supply chain bringing together operators, contractors, suppliers and people in the industry. Subsea UK was established by the industry and acts on behalf of the industry. They champion Britain’s subsea sector, which leads the way globally in terms of market size, experience and technology development. Subsea UK provides a forum for collaboration, diversification, commercialisation of technology and coordinated marketing in the UK and abroad.
